Grammar welcomes internet safety specialist

The importance of internet safety has never been more paramount, particularly amongst our youngest members of society where participation in social networking, online gaming and cyberbullying is rapidly rising, increasing the need for online education.

Mr Brett Lee, founder of Internet Education and Safety Services (INESS), has spent over 22 years with the Queensland Police Force predominantly as a detective in the field of Child Exploitation specialising in undercover internet investigations and will today, May 22 speak to students, staff and parents at Sunshine Coast Grammar School.

Mr Lee’s personal experience creates interesting, undeniably credible and real messages that will be conveyed in tailored presentations to each group from primary and secondary students to staff and parents at the School, dealing with online compliance, responsibilities and dangers.

Principal at Sunshine Coast Grammar School, Mrs Maria Woods is eager to welcome Mr Lee to the School and learn more about the vital lessons and skills to help create a safer online experience for students.

“Internet safety and cyberbullying education is no longer optional, it’s essential,” said Mrs Woods. INESS programs and presentation will today focus on equipping students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enable them to use the internet safely, creating awareness of their rights and responsibilities in a digital world, while for the first time exposing them to the world behind their screen.

“The presentations are not about the devices or programs but more about applying our physical world mindsets and skills to our children’s online world,” said Mrs Woods “The aim of these presentations is to empower our students, staff and parents to take control of technology, set rules and boundaries at home and work hand-in-hand with teachers and educators.”
