Music industry professionals invited to apply for professional development opportunity

Sunshine Coast Council’s AMPED program has partnered with QMusic to provide a unique opportunity for eight music industry professionals to be chosen to attend a professional capacity building workshop.

Taking place at local venue Solbar on Wednesday 13 February from 9.45am to 7pm, this workshop aims to assist emerging music industry professionals to build on their existing skills to carve out a successful career.

Eight participants will be selected through an Expression of Interest process with one being chosen to obtain experience in planning and promoting phase two of the AMPED workshop series and the AMPED Live events.

The Capacity Building Workshop has gained the support of renowned music industry professionals Women in Business Manager Maggie Collins, Footstomp Music Founder Graham Ashton and QMusic Program Manager Martine Cotton as facilitators to share their wisdom and wealth of personal experience.

On completion of the workshop, emerging professionals will gain the skills and confidence to deal with the changing face of the music industry.  The workshop includes a one hour one-on-one career development session with a facilitator, highlights what income streams are available to the music industry, how to organise a national tour, budgeting and merchandising, marketing, promotion and much more.

Other interesting topics covered include where the music industry is headed in the future, what skills you need to pull together a tour or event, dealing with contracts, how to market to the right audience and how to deal with the media.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity which will put you one step closer to realising your musical career dream.  Applications close 31 January 2013.  For further information on the AMPED 2013 program visit council’s website or call  5475 7272 to talk to our Creative Development Officer.
