2005 WWA World Wakeboard & Wakeskate Championships

Estimated Event Audience attendance:         ~20,000 persons over 4 days


Event Background


  • Event was established by the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) in 1994
  • Event is established as the most prestigious Wakeboarding contest in the world
  • Athletes from 20 countries attended the 2004 event in Orlando, Florida USA
  • 2005 will be the first time the WWA Wakeboard World Championships have been held outside the US
  • Australian riders currently hold the top 3 positions in the wakeboard world; international pride will be on the line.
  • Wakeskating (wakeboarding without bindings, similar to skateboarding) has evolved wakeboarding into a multi-discipline sport and introduced new athletes, areas, tow vehicles and media interest to this fast growing sport.



Divisions of competition are broken down into age brackets with the exception of the pro and open divisions. Age as of January 1st of 2005 will be used to determine age bracket. The WWA World Championships will operate under the following divisions:

Jr. Girls ages 9 and under

Girls ages 10-13
Jr. Women ages 14-18

Amateur Women

Pro Women

Jr. Boys ages 9 and under

Boys ages 10-13

J r. Men ages 14-17
Men's I ages 18-24
Men's II ages 25-29
Masters ages 30-39
Veterans ages 40 and over
Open any age
Pro any age
