The Eyeline 1000 Noosa Ocean Swim has had a few problems with the strange algae bloom which has been blown onto Noosa's Main Beach over the past few years.  The good new is that all indications are pointing to the algae not returning to Noosa this year or hopefully ever again - so the Eyeline Swim will be held in the ocean on Noosa's Main Beach as it has been for the past 14 years, on Friday 27th October.
In the unlikely event that the algae does reoccur we will have a contingency plan in place to move over to the Triathlon Park and swim 1000 meters around the island.  We will make this call by 10.00am Friday (27/10/06) morning and will notify all those entered, by email if the venue changes.
We hope you will support this great tradition that has become an integral part of the Noosa Multi Sport Festival and look forward to you helping us celebrate one of Australia's premier ocean swim events on one of Australia best know beach's.

Extra 2006 Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival Information:
Sunshine Coast kids are set to receive a helping hand to 'get active' and participate in some of the regions most high profile events.
USM Events manages over 50 events annually on a national level involving 120,000 competitors and participants each year and Managing Director, Garth Prowd has just announced an exciting new initiative to get kids involved in a healthy and active lifestyle by offering a half price entry into any USM Event for kids aged between 7 - 15 years who live on the Sunshine Coast.
"Raising three children of my own I feel it's important for all kids to be able to participate in some form of sport but understand the financial strain that families are under these days," said Prowd.
"The only reason we are unable to provide free entry is our commitment to comply with insurances costs in staging these events, Prowd added."
The area will cover from Caloundra to Pomona which includes all the major regions such as Montville, Maleny and Kennilworth.
Over the past eight years USM Events has conducted the Weet-Bix Kids TRY-athlon Series held in capital cities around the country and is set to expand into regional areas in 2007.
Held in conjunction with these events was a School's Visitation and Mentoring Program aimed at encouraging children to take part and to inspire them to adopt a health, active lifestyle and encourage them to be a champion no matter what their skill or fitness level. The program was devised to take the 'scary' factor out of entering an event and focussed on having fun with your friends.
Some of Australian's biggest sporting names shared their stories with the kids about their own personal experiences.
Children learn important life skills when interacting and sport is a great medium for this.
At the end of the 2006 Weet-Bix Kids TRY-athlon Series over 16,000 kids have crossed the finish line with huge smiles to the encouragement and cheers of thousands of supporters - family, friends and sporting heroes. As a non-competitive event that allows kids of all abilities and confidence to give it a go.
"The philosophy is to give kids a positive experience in a safe, happy environment and we apply the same principals to our Superkidz Triathlon Series, held in conjunction with the Noosa, Mooloolaba and Gold Coast Triathlons.
These events provide kids with an opportunity to swim, cycle and run for fun, plus take home a medal and certificate for having a go. It doesn't matter how good they are at sport, it gives them the chance to challenge themselves, get healthy and active and boost their self esteem. They can then enjoy a healthy breakfast and be cheered on by the likes of Ky Hurst, Emma Snowsill and Loretta Harrop who hand out the medals and some tips for the kids.
The Noosa Superkidz Triathlon, Eyeline 1000 Ocean Swim, Run - Swim - Run and The Fun Run are the first opportunities that 'Coast Kids' will have the chance to take advantage of the offer and be part of the 2006 Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival. However, there are many other events to choose from throughout the year.
