Bronwyn Bishop to attend 10th Fisher Seniors Forum
Popular Member of the Australian Parliament Bronwyn Bishop will be guest of honour at the 10th annual Fisher Seniors' Forum & Expo, announced local Member for Fisher Peter Slipper.
Mrs Bishop, the Shadow Minister for Seniors, will attend the event at the Lake Kawana Community Centre on 21 May.
"Mrs Bishop is a very knowledgeable on senior's issues and is passionate about making sure seniors don't get a raw deal from the government," Mr Slipper said.
"It is great news that she will be attending the Fisher Seniors' Forum this year as key note speaker; I urge anyone considering attending the event to get in early to secure a place."
Mrs Bishop previously attended the forum in 2001 as Minister for Aged Care.
The Fisher Seniors' Forum and Expo was launched by Mr Slipper in 2001, with the purpose of providing senior residents of the Sunshine Coast with friendly and informal access to free information about issues that affect them. Over 300 senior residents are expected to attend the event.
The format will include presentations from three guest speakers, followed by question time.
The Seniors' Expo that will again accompany the Forum will this year feature over 20 exhibitors, each on hand to give helpful free advice on a range of products and services of interest to seniors.
"Each year the Fisher Seniors' Forum & Expo grows more and more popular as word spreads of the value and convenience of such information events," Mr Slipper said.
"Those who have attended past forums have commented that having so many exhibitors in the one location makes it easy to gather a range of information in the one afternoon -- it can save a lot of time."
The 2010 Fisher Seniors' Forum is FREE and will be held at Lake Kawana Community Centre on May 21, from 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
