Gardening enthusiasts and novices alike are starting the countdown to this year's Queensland Garden Expo, one of Australia's largest gardening events which attracts almost 30,000 visitors to the Nambour Showgrounds each year.
The three-day event from July 8-10 really has something for everyone - from novices looking to learn from the comprehensive speaker program to those wishing to select from the biggest collection of sub-tropical plants in Australia.
Event organiser, Marion Beazley, believes visitors love the expo for the great variety offered by over 360 exhibitors inspires them to try new things and to choose the right plants, tools, products and accessories to suit their needs.
"Whether you have acreage or a balcony, most of us love the idea of growing things and having plants around helps us create our own private sanctuary. The Expo enables people to explore their options, get advice from the professionals and to see everything that's new and fantastic in the gardening world," said Marion.
"The Expo is also an important date for the Nursery Industry with the release of many new plants and varieties, displays by garden and flora societies and over 55 nurseries coming together to exhibit at the event."
The speaker program includes many high profile gardening experts such as 4BC's Colin Campbell; ABC Radio Host, Annette McFarlane; Garden Guru, Phil Dudman and Brisbane Botanical Gardens Curator, Ross McKinnon and will see lectures, demonstrations and workshops across seven live stages during over the three days.
"But the Expo is not just about plants and gardens, it's also a great family day out with a range of quality food stalls, entertainment for the kids like roving performers and a free children's playground," said Marion.
"Every year we see people return because they enjoyed browsing the displays and stands, being inspired and soaking up the great atmosphere at the event."
This year the Giant Kitchen Garden will once again increase in size as sustainable and organic gardening continues to grow in popularity and the Landscape Gardens Challenge will see some of the best local landscapers transform a patch of dirt into a spectacular garden within days.
Every year, thousands of garden lovers, including hundreds of horticulture professionals, flock to the Expo -- one of the Queensland's largest and most celebrated gardening events.
On par with some of Australia's famous garden shows, such as those in Melbourne and Sydney, the quality of the gardens, exhibits and lectures make this one of the top gardening events in the country. The Queensland Garden Expo is where Queensland's top landscape designers and nurseries will showcase their creative talents, products and knowledge.
Full-size gardens provide the centrepiece of this stunning annual event. The expo features tantalizing offerings from more than 360 exhibitors -- the latest in garden tools, books, accessories, garden art and more. Seven live stages hosting lectures, demo's and workshops will offer free expert advice and information all day every day, whilst plant exhibitors will have nearly 40,000 plants for sale daily.
Special exhibits include the Giant Kitchen Garden featuring permaculture and organic gardening, major Floral Art competitions, a special kids play area and large displays from Queensland's Garden Clubs and Flora Societies.
