Welcome to the 2014 International Rally of Queensland, Round 3 of the 2014 FIA Asia-Pacific Rally Championship.
Conducted over the weekend of 20 to 22 June 2014, this event (known as IROQ) also comprises Round 3 of the CAMS East Coast Bullbars Australian Rally Championship and Rounds 2 and 3 of the Queensland Rally Championship.
The beautiful Sunshine Coast with its glorious beaches and picturesque hinterland provides the backdrop to IROQ with Rally Headquarters again being located at Oaks Oasis at Caloundra. The special stages will be run on the tough and testing gravel roads within the Imbil and Kenilworth State Forests.
For 2014, I am proud to lead a largely new and dynamic team which brings a fresh style and new ideas to an already iconic event. While acknowledging the previous work and dedication of Errol Bailey and Brian Everitt to make this an international event, the 2014 IROQ team looks to cement IROQ’s place in the APRC through a culture of innovation and continual improvement.
As a result, we will deliver an event with significantly reduced liaison distances and a combination of exciting gravel special stages that range from 5 kilometres to 36 kilometres which will surely produce a deserving winner.
In 2014, the Saturday night Parc Ferme for APRC and ARC competitors will be in the Imbil Showgrounds. These changes achieve a reduction in overall liaison distance by more than 200 kilometres thus reducing competitor costs. The proposed itinerary is found later in this Rally Guide. IROQ will also ensure that sponsors and supporters of the Championships, the event and our competing Teams are not overlooked.
Corporate facilities will be established at the Ceremonial Start and sponsors and event partners will be able to participate in the Shakedown and Corporate Ride activities. Corporate facilities will also
be available at sites within the Imbil Forest Spectator Park.
The Service Park will again be at the Imbil Showgrounds and a Remote Refuel will be at Kenilworth Showgrounds prior to the first forest stage. IROQ appreciates the friendly and enthusiastic support of the businesses and townspeople of Imbil and Kenilworth and their contribution to the event’s enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere.
The weather in June will be in the famous Queensland winter with cool nights and warm sunny days. It will be a perfect time to go rallying. I look forward to meeting you and your teams at the 2014 International Rally of Queensland.
