ACTing with Mindfulness -- Embedding Mindfulness and Core Acceptance and Commitment Therapy Skills into Your Life
Using ACTion Learning Principles, the course covers basic theory and focuses on developing and embedding Mindfulness and core Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) skills into daily life.
Develop skills in the six core ACT processes:
* Present Moment Focus (being here and now with flexibility)
* Defusion (noticing thoughts and feelings)
* Self as Context (perspective taking)
* Acceptance (willingness as attitude to our internal experiences)
* Values Clarification (what really matters to us as people?)
Committed Actions (doing what works in our lives)

Course taught by NeLi Martin, a qualified psychologist who integrates her psychology training and many years of mindfulness study and practice; Rachel Collis, a consultant psychiatrist.
Mindfulness' is a hot topic in Western psychology, recognised as an effective way to reduce stress, increase self-awareness, enhance emotional intelligence, and effectively handle painful thoughts and feelings. As seen in the ABC series Making Australia Happy
Although mindfulness has only recently been embraced by Western psychology, it is an ancient practice found at the base of a wide range of Eastern philosophies, including Buddhism, Taoism and Yoga. Mindfulness involves consciously bringing awareness to your here-and-now experience with openness, interest, and receptiveness. Mindfulness is about waking up, connecting with ourselves, and appreciating the fullness of each moment of life.
Buddhist centres can be a practical resource to learn mindfulness, and Chenrezig Institute in the Sunshine Coast hinterland provides secular courses such as these, universally welcoming everyone; no matter what background you're from!
