'After Dinner' by Andrew Bovell.
The Caloundra Chorale & Theatre Company has chosen a Comedy by one of Australia's great contemporary playwrights, Andrew Bovell, as their next production.
The action in 'After Dinner' takes place during one Friday night, on the 'singles circuit' at a Hotel in Melbourne. Five 'serial singles', two guys and three girls, will during the course of the play, take the audience on a high energy roller coaster ride. This intimate theatre experience will cause you to both cringe with embarrassment, and laugh out loud, at the antics on stage. Full of social comment, with a wry insight into the world of the single person, the Director, Kennedy Fox promises a lively spectacle. Be prepared to see yourself, or someone you know, reflected in the comedic action on stage!
The five young people experiencing the pitfalls of 'the mating game' in full view, are Jodie Collie, Tomas Passegi, Joanne Warburton, Adelle Chapman and Tracey Lourigan.
The Playwright - Andrew Bovell
Works include: AWGIE winning Plays, 'Holy Day', 'Who's Afraid of the Working Class', 'Speaking in Tongues' and 'Scenes from a Separation'. Screen works include, 'Lantana', the winner of seven AFI awards in 2001.
The Director- Kennedy Fox.
Kennedy has been' treading the boards' from an early age, performing on stage in 'Old Mother Goose' at the Alhambra (? Sp) Hall in Nambour, when only six years old! He has filled the intervening years with several Musicals, including, 'The Desert Song', 'Brigadoon', 'H.M.S.Pinafore', the pantomime, 'The Reluctant Dragon', and more recently, 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying'. A successful season as Nanny Fanny Cranny in 'Sleeping Beauty' at Buderim, adds to a substantial repertoire of character parts over the years. In After Dinner Kennedy is happy to be in the Director's chair for this C.C.T.C. production. Drawing on his wide experience, and with a flair for comic theatre, he has produced this comedic expose, full of revelations from the 'mating game' as it affects these five 'singles' in one hilarious night.
