Nowill sharpens up at ASICS Twilight Run

Australian Steeplechase champion, Peter Nowill has confirmed he will be back to defend this title at this years Asics Twilight 5km Run on Friday 28 March.

The race has been a part of Nowill's program over the past few years and he likes the early evening start.

"I am trying to qualify for the Olympics in the 3000m Steeplechase and will be using this race to sharpen up before heading overseas (most likely the US) to chase some fast races and get the required qualifying standards," said Nowill.

"Running a 5km race is never easy but it sure helps not to be in the heat of the day and the twilight concept is something unique," he added.

In 2008 organisers have made adjustments to the course configuration due to the ever expanding number of entries.

Race Director, David Ray said the event will now switch to a three lap course to cater for the additional numbers of last year and expected increase this year.

The supporting events on the Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival Program offer locals a chance to be part of the festival.

Organisers are keen to attract the support of local swimmers and urge them to enter this year and not miss out.

The run is not just for the elite but encourages people of all ages and abilities with categories from Under 16 to the more mature 80+.

The Mooloolaba Triathlon Festival and ITU World Cup - proudly supported by the Queensland Government through Queensland Events.
