Auditions for Spectacular

The selection of more than 500 local performers for the largest theatrical production the region has ever seen will begin on Tuesday, April 5, commencing at 5pm at the Black Box Theatre, Nambour.

A diverse range of performers and artists are invited to audition to be part of the Arena Spectacular that will be the feature attraction at this year's Sunshine Coast Show from the 16th to 18th of June at the Nambour Show Grounds..   The professional production will be a fantastic opportunity for talent to gain large scale exposure and recognition.

The Arena Spectacular will be the feature attraction of the Sunshine Coast show.  To commemorate the centenary milestone audiences will be taken to the early 1900's and back to the present, by performance, verse, song and dance.

Producer Mark Eady, of Ozworks Entertainment has been invited to produce the celebration and is encouraging a high level of community involvement.  Mr Eady says, "The diversity and depth of talent in the Sunshine Coast region will contribute greatly to the success of the production."

All talented members of the Sunshine Coast from Gympie to Caloundra are invited to attend.  Performers interested in the following roles are especially encouraged:  Master of Ceremonies (actor with comic timing), assistant MC (comic), musicians and singers for a show band, singers to form a mass choir, bush poets, dancers and dancing troops, horse riders (with own horses) and variety acts.

Mr Eady would like to pay tribute to the local indigenous community and urges indigenous singers and dancers to come forward.

Also required will be behind the scenes personnel, stage managers, set & costume co-coordinators and general volunteers are encouraged to join the team.

Other features of the show looking to be obtained are harness vehicles and heavy horses, vintage cars and antique (working) agricultural machinery. Also any other old farming equipment which could be used as part of the static set, sheds, windmills, fencing, wagon wheels and old boxes.

The start of the auditioning process follows a highly successful creative session which took place in February.
