ABOUT Rock'n'Tewantin

The Rock'n'Tewantin Festival was created after several Tewantin Community association committee members were working on ways to enhance the Tewantin area with the joint efforts of business and community involvement, for the good of locals and tourists.

I suggested Rock'n'Roll as it's a favorite of mine and I knew many others enjoyed the same 50's 60's and early 70's tunes and musicians. One of the other members said why you don't organize an event, so I took up the challenge.

Rock'n'Tewantin was born.

Starting with $1000.00 in funds we gathered other community association members and locals to make up a fantastic team of vibrant, keen and enthusiastic volunteers.

We approached local businesses for financial support and then put in a submission for funding from Noosa Council which was successful.

Rock'n'Tewantin was an instant hit.

The committee decided to continue to year two aiming over the next few years for a mini Wintersun.

Year two was increased to a four day event to contend with the enthusiasm of all involved trying to incorporate all the ideas flowing through. Funding was successfully sought from Queensland Events Development Regional Funds, Noosa Council and various local businesses.

The 10,000 visitors and locals who attended made it quite clear they wanted Rock'n'Tewantin to continue. Now in our third year of operating we have secured the Rock'n'Roll competitions to the Noosa shire thus increasing our event to 10 days.

20th April to 1st May 2006
