Australia's Biggest Morning Tea

Everyone loves a break: the chance to spend time with family, friends or colleagues. Once a year, having a break also helps in the fight against a disease that affects nearly 1 in 3 Australians: Cancer.

More than a million Australians are expected to spend quality time over a cuppa, with Australia's Biggest Morning Tea and with your help, Australia's Biggest Morning Tea will be a record breaker in 2005!

The Queensland Cancer Fund along with the members of The Cancer Council Australia are aiming to get so many Australians together that we can break the Guinness World Record for the Worlds Largest Simultaneous Tea Party.

The current record is held by EroSH for their Largest Tea & Buns event held at locations throughout the UK on 11 June 2004, involving 11,760 participants (current as at 4 February 2005).

How can you help?

Register as a host at and you will receive a colourful Host kit containing all the information you require to make your morning tea a success. Then invite as many guests as you can to your event.

For your morning tea to qualify as a part of this historic world record attempt, please hold your event between 8am to 2pm (eastern standard time) on Thursday 26 May, 2005 (although, if this doesn't suit morning teas can be held anytime throughout the month of May).

To be eligible for the record attempt, hosts must count the number of guests that attend their event, complete the declaration provided in their Host Booklet and return it to the Queensland Cancer Fund by Friday 17 June.

The number of venues used is not of importance in the context of the record. Therefore morning teas held at individual venues around Australia will contribute to the record.

The Cancer Council Australia will submit our claim to Guinness World Records approximately 2 months after the event and will make an official announcement once our record attempt has been verified by GWR. We anticipate this will occur around August/September.
