Successful author Leonie Norrington will be the literary guest of the Noosa Library from 6.30 pm on Wednesday, April 20th.  

A vibrant and interesting writer, Leonie was born in Darwin as the third of nine children and grew up in the Barunga Community in southern Arnhemland.  Being bought up in a mixed culture environment nurtured her interest in places where languages and cultures meet.

Leonie is filled to the brim with biographical stories of her childhood with Clare ('who grew us up properly'), country, mixed heritage, school life and her present roles as an author and columnist.

Leonie Norrington writes for adults, children.  Burrumbi Kids and its sequel The Spirit of Barrumbi, have both been shortlisted for special awards, while the latter made the Notable Book List 2004 along with Croc Bait.  She works as  a journalist presenting segments on ABC TV's Gardening Australia and is a columnist for magazine, Burkes Backyard, Gardening Australia and the Litchfield Times.  The writer also edits Bush Buzz , a magazine for rural and isolated women and typesets and  Longgrass, the local paper giving voice to Darwin's homeless.

To hear this amazingly talented author who has so far led an interesting and extremely varied life much different than most of us,  book with the Library on 5442 4411.  The attendance cost of $5.00 includes finger food and refreshments.
