Organisers East Coast Originals and Cooroy Chamber of Commerce have pulled a few rabbits out of the hat to serve up a smoking line up for the first Cooroy Originals on 23 March!
Matt Stillert is first up on the bill offering his unique style that ranges from soothing folk melodies, to high energy, foot stomping blues. Displaying a dynamic blend of roots music, Matt is a dynamic live performer that engages the crowd and will get the party started.
The second band, Tea Society is a Sunshine Coast band that plays a fusion of sunny indie rock with a jazzy funk vibe. Coming from different musical backgrounds and influences, from gypsy jazz to indie pop this band manages to contain the vast differences and create something truly unique.
Also on the program is In2Nation, a group of Aussie Sunny Coast lads addicted to funk, reggae, hip-hop and in their own words “all things groovy”. Their mission is to bring the funk back to the universe with their unique mix of music which has been described as a combination of Beastie Boys and Dooby Brothers with a side serving of Red Hot Chilli Peppers and a light garnishing of The Doors. By mashing this fusion of modern musical styles, this new breed of musical interests has formed a new genre all of its own cheekily labelled ‘Junk Hop’.
Headlining will be Hayden Hack Infusion with their funk, afro and psychedelic aesthetic all driven by the South African main man and guitarist, Hayden Hack and his eight-piece funk family. Essentially sharing a vibe with the likes of Fela Kuti and a 70s-circa Zappa, HHI is somewhat of an experience that incorporates West African percussion, a three-piece horn section, acidy guitar and arrangements and a social commentary outlook on lyrics with a vocal range from Hack himself that spans from gravelly to falsetto.
“The support from the businesses and community in Cooroy for this event has been fantastic. We feel really welcomed and know it is going to be an awesome event and just encourage everyone to come along,” said Marcus Pluckhahn from East Coast Originals.
“We are so excited to get this event in Cooroy, it’s a real achievement and it’s going to be great for the community,” added Danielle Taylor, President of Cooroy Chamber of Commerce.
Cooroy Originals is a free family event based on the Peregian Originals format and is funded through donations and raffle ticket sales and the awesome support of Cooroy Hotel, Cooroy Car Parts and Cooroy Chamber of Commerce! As well as the awesome line-up of musicians there will be food stalls and free face painting and a great community atmosphere.
