Local businesses and producers are gathering their collective local energies to bring to fruition once again the Back to Nambour Festival on Saturday 7th August in Quota Park. With a fresh, new look, Back to Nambour 2010 will incorporate the eclectic and exciting facets from last years' festival while introducing even more local performers, food producers, dance, cooking demos and of course the Local Food Harvest where producers and retailers can sell and display the myriad of delicious fruits, vegetables, eggs, and honey they lovingly reap for local community consumption.
The Festival is a family fun day with historic and educational values interwoven throughout the displays, performances, workshops and activities. B2N has something for every generation, enticing and accomodating the young and mature alike with many attractions of the festival intriguing both. Kicking off the Festival is the Moonlight Movies which will be held on the Friday evening in Quota Park. Something for all ages will be offered on the night and all are invited to bring their blankets, folding chairs or beanbags down to the park to be a part of the outdoor cinematic experience.
Cooking demonstrations, including one by famous low fat, cookbook queen Annette Sym, will be an integral part of the Festival. Annette will entice and inspire budding chefs to dabble in the culinary delights produced, using of course, only natural local produce. Equally as renowned and rated, Chef Laurent will encapsulate his repertoir of cooking tecniques in a demonstration that is set to impress! Chef Laurent is a big player in promtoing and experimenting with delicious and healthy school tuckshop menus. With the theme "Tastes of the Town", budding chefs are encouraged to choose their ingredients from local producers to highlight the fact that we have everything we need to eat gourmet, delicious food right here in Nambour.
The Native Bee Display is a must-see at B2N with Rob Raabe tempting taste buds with samples and information on the benefits of natural honey. The display hive inspires the keen permaculture buff and apiarist alike, to delve into the realms of the busy bee world. Rob will be displaying his Native Stingless bees at Back To Nambour. Market stalls selling local and handmade wares will satisfy the secret shopper in all of us with a treasure trove of excellent quality, practical and lovingly made products to choose from.
Local, awe-inspiring choir INsingC will draw the crowd in with their harmonious brand of gospel and blues songs inspired by deep American traditions. Their repertoire of vibrational harmonies will send chills up the spine of those listening. Local community organisations will have their place on the day, offering festival-goers a chance to see the types of support community organisations encapsulate and offer. The Saturday Night of the festival offers a Latin Dance Party spectacular in collaboration with Timbeao Music and Art with a wine bar, coffee conessieur and Nambour business, Sweet Seductions to accompany the evening.
The Latin Dance Party will be an explosion of culture in Latin dance workshops, demonstrations, floorshows and amazing sounds from Sone Con Clave, a six-piece part of the bigger Brisbane band Chukale. The B2N Festival is an excellent way to support local businesses, farms, schools and community groups, keeping the Namour economy strong, the local history told and known and the collective and nurturing sense of community upheld.
