Have your say on the Ballinger Park Sports Complex Master Plan

Sunshine Coast Council is developing a Master Plan for the Ballinger Park Sports Complex, Buderim.
The community is invited to have their say on the Master Plan which will provide a long-term vision (2011 -- 2026) for the sports centre, identifying what it will look like and how it will function.
The development of the Master Plan is a recommendation from council's draft Sunshine Coast Sport and Active Recreation Plan.
Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said the plan acknowledges the significant population growth in the area and the resulting increasing demands for quality sport and recreation facilities by the community.
"The Ballinger Park Sports Complex is an important community sporting hub, used for a variety of active recreational and sporting needs," Cr Dickson said.
"I have long supported the concept of a new plan for the sports complex as it will provide a framework for the development of the site in order to maximise its functionality for the community both now and into the future.
"Council is now seeking input from the community to assist in the planning process.
"We are interested in determining how users of the facility and the broader community utilise and view the complex and its associated activities."
A consultant was recently appointed to assist council in the master planning process in order to obtain a holistic understanding of stakeholder and community priorities, needs and expectations whilst examining the issues, opportunities and constraints of the site.
In consultation with stakeholders and the community, it is expected that the plan will provide recommendations for the effective and efficient use of the area for current and future sport and recreation user groups.
Surveys have been distributed to current and potential emergent stakeholders, as well as adjacent local residents. Copies of the survey are also available on council's website.
Community members are invited to attend the community consultation evening on Tuesday 15 March 2011 from 6.30 to 8.30pm at the Conference Centre of the Buderim Mountain State School to gain an understanding of the master planning process and to provide additional input.
Please nominate your intention to attend by Friday 11 March 2011 with the Wellbeing Planning and Programs Senior Project Officer on (07) 5441 8448.
