Q School tees off tomorrow at Noosa Springs as 56 gun golfers from Queensland and NSW battle it out for their shot at a career in tournament golf.
It’s the First Stage of a cutthroat qualifying process for entry to the PGA Tour of Australasian Tournaments 2015.
The tournament will be held Wednesday 17 – Friday 19 December at Noosa Springs. It’s a two-tee start between 6.30-8.30am daily on the 1st and 10th tees. Finishes 1pm daily.
Media and public welcome to watch the rising stars of Australian golf in action at this exciting PGA-run event. The first and 10th tees and 18th green are the best vantage points for spectators to catch all the excitement and action of the three-day tournament.
A standout player is Jean-Louis Guepy who shot 59 on the European Tour. Watch out too for Noosa local Jamie Douris who may just have a hometown advantage and the colourful Brisbane-based Henry Epstein.
Noosa Springs is one of three Australian golf courses hosting the First Stage of Q School, 17-19 December. It will be held concurrently at Riverside Oaks, NSW and Sandhurst Golf Club, Victoria. Only golfers with a handicap of 2.4 or less are eligible to play.
The cream of Australia’s golfers will play three qualifying rounds as they vie for admission to the Final Stage at Victoria Golf Club 6-9 January 2015. Hopes will be fulfilled or dashed as only approximately the top 30% of the entire field will advance to the next level.
The stakes are high as the winner of Q School will gain an exemption category for the 2015 season equivalent to winning a Tier 2 Tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia plus the opportunity to compete professionally at a local and international level via the OneAsia Tour.
Noosa Springs Executive General Manager Mark Brady says it is a great thrill to be selected by the PGA to host this prestigious event and is testament to the high quality design and presentation of the championship golf course.
The course is specifically designed to provide both a test for the professional golfer and an enjoyable experience for the average golfer on undulating fairways in a natural bushland setting alongside spring fed lakes teeming with native wildlife.
“We’re keen to see how young up-and-coming pro golfers handle the challenge of our course,” says Mark.
