Tasmanian devil's suffer from what is known as the Devil Facial Tumour Disease (DFTD), a deadly disease eradicating The horrifying effects of DFTD devil's at an alarming rate. Currently, over 70% of Tasmania is affected by the disease and experts say that Tasmanian devils could be extinct in the wild within 10 to 20 years if nothing is done to save the species.

Visitors celebrating Black and White Day at Australia Zoo will have the chance to add a black and white ribbon to the conservation tree, listen to exclusive devil talks to learn more about this fascinating Australian animal, and dress in black and white for your chance to WIN a free Australian Wildlife Hospital tour for you and your family!

Plus, put your entry in the raffle to WIN some 'devily' prizes and to help save Tasmanian devils. All money raised from this day will go towards research for a cure and helping to establish insurance populations to save this iconic Australian species from extinction.

Why Black and White Day?

Black and White Day was founded by Nature Nic, a 10 year old boy from Hobart, Tasmania. He was nicknamed Nature Nic by his brothers because Nic just adores animals and is passionate about making kids and adults aware that everyone can make a difference to saving our wildlife. It is called Black and White Day simply because devils are black and white and Nature Nic wanted to make it easy for people to get involved.

How can you support this day?

You can support Black and White Day by visiting Australia Zoo on Saturday 16 May, or by getting your school or business to dress in black and white on Friday 15 May for a gold coin donation. We rely on donations to support the survival of this iconic species -- every little bit helps!
