By Willy Russell
Directed by Neil Pattenden
With special arrangement with Dominie Pty Ltd
19 November to 6 December
Blood Brothers has an extraordinary effect on audiences. They love it and they keep coming back to see it. It has been running in London for over 20 years.
"Devastating. A masterpiece. If you haven't seen it, go. If you have, go again!" News of the World.
Blood Brother is one of the best musicals of all time - scooping up no less than four awards for best musical in London and seven Tony Award nominations on Broadway.
You'll laugh and you'll cry as you follow Willy Russell's story of twin brothers in Liverpool separated at birth and flung to opposite ends of the social spectrum. Their paths cross again in both friendship and anger.
Playwright, Willy Russell, of Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine fame, captures both humour and emotion. His 'salt of the earth' and 'down to earth' way of writing endears him to just about everybody and the audience instantly empathize with his characters.
The leading lady (the twins' mother) has been played by many well-known stars over the years, including Helen Reddy and Petula Clark. Noosa Art's leading lady will be played by Synda Turnbull who has taken lead roles in musical and plays across the Coast and has the singing voice and dramatic skills to create a memorable Mrs Johnstone.
The narrator is played by Andy Hanrahan who worked for many years as a professional singer/actor in London and who most recently played the lead role of Jean Valjean in a sell-out season of Les Miserables at Caloundra Events Centre in April this year.
The twins are played by Sean McDermott and Kuna (KC) Smith who both have impressive theatrical experience as have the other female leads Sonia Williams and Genevieve Yates.
This Noosa Arts production will be directed by Neil Pattenden who directed The Mikado, Chicago, Tribute and Iolanthe.
The recommended age of children to see Blood Brothers is 12 and above.
