an exhibition of works in pastel, acrylic and oils based on the ocean by Susan Neuvonen
December 2 to December 21
Opening Saturday December 3, 2pm
Blue planet is the continuation of a theme that has intrigued the artist since an attempted sailing trip from Sydney to Lord Howe Island in 1999 and takes its name from the series of television documentaries "The Blue Planet"
"It is only because of water and its combination of special properties, that life on Earth - as we know it - exists at all" (The Blue Planet - Andrew Byatt, Alastair Fothergill & Martha Holmes 2001)
This quote encapsulates the artists view as to the value of water and why we should respect, conserve and protect our water resources to ensure the survival of our beautiful blue planet.
Susan Neuvonen is a graduate of CSIT Visual Arts Diploma in Noosa as well as having undertaken studies in visual art and interior design in Sydney. For the past five years she has been a volunteer at the Noosa Regional Gallery and has spent three years on the committee of the Noosa Gallery Society, the past two years as President.
