Organisations create a mission statement, 5 years, 3 years and 1 year plans, goals and objectives. Management provide resources to achieve set goals and objectives and employees carry out the tasks to realise them all. So often organisations still fail to achieve their goals.

Question - What is missing in this scenario?
Answer - It is the link between individual and performance.

How can this link be strengthened? There are a plethora of ways and means that involve relationships between management and employees, but the one of concern here, is a method that directly addresses the individual.  Individuals' strengths can be better focussed by operating with greater 'efficiency'.

Productivity is enhanced if individuals are most focussed. Training, skills acquisition, learning and knowledge can be better applied. When rid of distraction, disorganisation, mess and struggles with other people's or organisation's schedules and their modes of operation, individuals are more efficient.

Efficiency is what ultimately enables us to maximise our output within the constraints of available time and space. Efficient use of space saves time as documents, papers, equipment etc are at hand.  Find what you are looking for in a few moments and do not waste your time. The benefits of efficient use of time are self evident. All of us would like more time - saving time doing the same amount at work so that we have more time left over for our family, friends, leisure, personal pursuits, community and more.

At the next Boardroom Briefing Jennifer Mimnaugh, Director - Organise inSync, provides business insights into the skills, systems and processes necessary to work towards increasing productivity and efficiency.
