The 16th Century French art of Decoupage and Retro 1970’s can be lusted over in the most recent exhibition at the Harbourside Gallery. Journalist, author and artist Sue Trethowan-Jones has empathised with those who are feeling the vagaries of the stock market and the current economic situation, by re-igniting the ancient art to decorate with flair. The imaginative way Sue has used the most accessible materials to decorate small objects and pieces of furniture retrieved from recycling outlets is inspiring and will re-spark interest in this art.
While Sue’s solo exhibition of vintage decoupage furniture will open on June 18th, her display of decoupage vases and other bric-a-brac is already on show in the 3D display area at the Harbourside Gallery. Sue will also be selling her book “Gems of a Generation...The Beading Girls”. All proceeds from sale of this book that she wrote will be donated to the Cancer Council. Entry is free.
