Book launch to raise veteran awareness
Don't miss the opportunity to meet and speak with prominent local author Jean R. Williams at the launch of the second edition of her thought provoking novel on the Vietnam War on Tuesday 27 January at the Nambour Library.
In conjunction with Partners of Vietnam Veterans Association, Children of the Mist: Agent Orange - future generations, will be launched with an additional three chapters, which focus on the issues facing partners of Vietnam veterans today.
Maroochy Mayor, Alison Grosse said, the launch was a great opportunity for residents to learn about the partners of veterans and the health, social and political issues they must deal with.
"This launch provides a chance to meet with the author and learn about the devastating effects chemical warfare can have on both civilian and military populations.
"Jean does much to raise awareness by revealing the truth about the effects of Agent Orange on the lives of innocent civilians and families of Vietnam veterans," Cr Grosse said.
Jean has won a number of awards for her books on the Vietnam War including the 1996 Human Rights Award for her novel, Cry in the Wilderness - Guinea Pigs of Vietnam, and the Prime Ministers Award for fiction in 1999 for her book, The Devils Rainbow.
Jean will be available for interviews at the launch from 10 am in the Bill Robinson Reading Room on the first floor of the Nambour Library located on the corner of Currie and Bury Streets, Nambour.
