One of Australia's best Rock bands British India are all set to visit the Sunshine Coast August 14 to launch a new Friday night music series 'FRIDAY LIVE AT THE HELM'.
The band, who emerged from Melbourne's underground scene in 2007 to become one of the biggest names in Australian music, have landed 4 ARIA Top 10 entries and received a coveted AIR award in a nothing but inspirational career.
In 2012 they turned a new corner, signing to Australian independent giant, Mushroom Music and Liberation Records with their single 'I Can Make You Love Me' achieving gold status. British India were recently handpicked to play with 'The Rolling Stones' on their recent Australian tour and have just recently completed their most successful national tour to date on the back of a 5th album release.
"It's tempting nowadays to describe bands by comparing their sound to others but British India are close to having no comparable peers in terms of their sound and song craft. If anything, they have become the benchmark to which new and up-and-coming bands are compared and differentiated." Scenestr
The act will line up with Sunshine Coast Blues Rockers Transvaal Diamond Syndicate and Brisbane act The Strums to open what is the first in a regular series of Friday night live and original full band nights in Mooloolaba.
Local promoter Beats Cartel, in conjunction with The Wharf Tavern, will be bringing some of Australia's best nationally touring acts to the Coast over the coming months along with supporting local original artists.
Christian Tryhorn of Beats Cartel says of the endeavour "The Coast has been itching for a new full original band venue for some time now. We plan to broaden the scope of what's on offer locally and are excited to be bringing some pretty big name acts here as well as providing opportunities for local up-and-coming acts. British India is an epic way to kick things off!".
The Helm, upstairs at The Wharf Tavern on the Coast, features a 700 capacity room with full sound system, backline, stage and lighting rig. Shows will generally be free to the public but will ticket for Australia's biggest names.
The British India gig will form part of The Wharf Tavern's first birthday celebrations which will take place all weekend with a variety of acts and events.
