NEW WORKSHOP HELPS BUSINESSES GET ONLINE IN A DAY
In an increasingly digital world, a strong online presence is non-negotiable when it comes to driving business success. With more than 40 per cent of Australian consumers now regularly shopping online, Sunshine Coast businesses that don’t have a quality website risk being left behind.
But what do you do if you’re a startup or small family business that can’t afford to spend thousands of dollars on a customised website?
Local digital marketing expert Luke Humble is here to help.
Humble, who is the managing director of award-winning Sunshine Coast design agency Italic Creative, is hosting a full-day workshop designed to help local businesses create a brand-new website in just one day. The hands-on session will take business owners through a simple step-by-step process from domain registration right through to launch. At the end of the day participants will walk away with a fully functioning Wordpress site they created themselves.
Humble says the workshop was inspired by a number of local startup clients who had enquired about cost-effective website design.
“A standard website built by an agency will cost between $2,500 and $5,000,” he says. “Often there is no training or updates included in that, which means you also have ongoing costs.
“A lot of new or smaller businesses simply can’t afford to pay that, but if they don’t have a website they miss out on customers and sales. Likewise, if they try to do it themselves with no professional guidance they end up with a poor-quality site that actually does their professional reputation more harm than good.”
The workshop will feature a mix of instructional content and hands-on support. Participants will be sent a website planner in advance, which will help them identify their target audience and establish a framework for the site content. Numbers are limited to only 25 participants, with professional web design, development and marketing skills on hand to offer one-on-one guidance.
Earlybird tickets are $980 – less than half the cost of a standard website build – and also include domain name registration for two years; one year of Australian-based web hosting; one year of software updates, backups and security protection; a choice of three premium Wordpress templates; and a workbook with the checklists and guidelines used to create your site.
Importantly, the workshop also includes instruction on how to edit, update and maintain the site, along with access to a range of online tutorials, WordPress training videos and articles. This means it’s also ideal for established businesses who don’t yet have the skills needed to transition to an online environment.
“The aim is to empower business owners to take control of their own online presence in an affordable way, and to start to use that to drive business success,” Humble says. “Getting more local businesses online will not only help them, but it will also contribute to a more dynamic and connected Sunshine Coast economy.”
The workshop will be held on Saturday July 25 from 8.30am to 5.00pm at the Innovation Centre Sunshine Coast. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea is included. Earlybird tickets ($980) are available until June 30, after which standard tickets are $1270. For more information or to register go to www.lukehumble.com
