Caloundra City Council celebrates Local Government Week

Prizes, giveaways and birthday celebrations are among the festivities planned for Caloundra City Council's Open Day in Felicity Park next month.

Caloundra City Mayor, Don Aldous, said the Open Day, which will showcase the many services and initiatives of Council, will coincide with the end of Local Government Week on Sunday June 19.

"Council and its workings remain a mystery to many residents, despite the integral role local government plays in the daily lives of everyone who lives in the City," Cr Aldous said.

"Whether it is essential services such as water and sewerage, leisure facilities like walkways and barbecues or conservation at local parks, Council has a role to play.

"This Open Day will be an opportunity for everyone to come and learn more about Council and the workings of our wonderful City, while also enjoying the many activities, displays and giveaways planned for the day.

"Some of the highlights will include the launch of Council's new-look website, mobile library birthday celebrations and a special rate on microchipping for pet owners."

The Open Day, which will coincide with Sunday markets in the CBD, will be held at Felicity Park, Omrah Avenue from 9am to 12pm.
