Caloundra Tourism holds special meeting
Members of Caloundra Tourism Inc and industry guests are invited to a Special General Meeting on Wednesday evening, June 2, at Rumba Beach Resort to vote on resolutions to formally wind up the organisation.
Caloundra Tourism president Mike Wilkinson said that the resolutions are required to ensure a smooth transition to the new tourism management structure for the Sunshine Coast.
"A Special General Meeting is required to vote on a resolution to members that Caloundra Tourism Inc winds up and also approve recommendations on how to best to finalise the affairs of the organisation," Mr Wilkinson said.
From July 1 a new regional destination management organisation will operate with a destination desk representing the southern region based on Caloundra.
The Caloundra Destination Desk will have its own specialised staff and an Advisory Panel comprising senior industry leaders working in a voluntary capacity. In Caloundra's case the inaugural Advisory Panel will be the Caloundra Tourism Board Members. This will ensure some continuity for the marketing and promotion of Caloundra.
Mr Wilkinson said all Caloundra Tourism members and their guests were invited to attend the Special General Meeting and the networking afterwards.
"Caloundra Tourism was established in 2002 and this will be the last meeting of members before the new regional organisation called Destination Sunshine Coast Ltd begins operation in the new financial year," Mr Wilkinson said.
The meeting will be held in the Rumba Room at Rumba Resort starting at 5.30pm. For catering purposes please RSVP by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 5491 2500.
