Carols on Kings
Saturday 17th December 2005

The Mayors Community Christmas Carols on Kings will be held at Kings Beach Park.

This year's Carols will be an event not to be missed.  The afternoon kicks off at 4pm with loads of amusement rides for kids of all ages, food stalls, ice creams and drinks and of course 'glowies' and 'Santa hats" for sale.

Come and see the Elves as they give away thousands of candy canes to the kids, singing and dancing on stage and of course, what would Christmas be without SANTA'S ARRIVAL followed by a magical Christmas fireworks display.

This year promises to be a fantastic FAMILY Christmas celebration for everyone.

This is a FREE event sponsored by Caloundra City Council and organised by Quad Park Events.

Kings Beach will be transformed into a sea of lights when locals and visitors converge on the Kings Beach Amphitheatre to celebrate 'Carols on Kings' on Saturday, December 17.

Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the free family event, to be hosted by Hot 91's Chrissie and Ronnie, will be a traditional Christmas celebration.

"As well as all your favourite carols, there will be a special appearance by Santa, performances by local schools and guest entertainers Emma Bosel and Chris Fennessey, together with a 50-piece choir and 40-piece orchestra," Cr Aldous said.

"The night with be capped off with a magical fireworks display."

The event kicks off at 3pm with amusement rides and food and beverage stalls. Main stage entertainment gets underway at 6pm and finishes about 8.30pm.

"Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and settle in for a great night of family entertainment that celebrates the essence of the festive season," Cr Aldous said.

Participants are encouraged to bring along a torch. Alternatively, festive glow sticks will be available for purchase on the night.

Disabled parking and set down for those unable to walk is available at the Burgess Street carpark. State Emergency Service volunteers will be on hand to provide directions.

A park and ride service will operate on the night with free shuttle buses leaving every half hour from Quad Park starting at 2pm and the Caloundra Bus Interchange at 2.30pm. Return services will be available at the end of the event, running until 10pm.
