Cat Green from Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance will be talking about the future of food and agriculture in this country. The Australian Food Sovereignty Alliance has written a discussion draft for presentation amongst groups of people who are concerned about the future of food and agriculture in this country. By setting up network groups of citizens interested in promoting the "peoples ideas", contrasting them with mega plans made by the corporate interests on the national board.
In doing so they will make Australian food an election issue, which can unite people of all political persuasions.
Ideas of sustainability and care for the land also make the plan very attractive to permaculture groups like us.
Cat's interest in healthy local food systems arose after witnessing food insecurity in the Middle East in 2008.
Cat’s particularly excited by the People’s Food Plan, as she a passionate ‘community diy’ supporter and believes that people have the capacity to create and shape their own future. Cat is a member of many local food groups in Brisbane and has several years experience in local and international community development and humanitarian aid.
