Celebrate Anzac Day with a Moonwalk
Caloundra City residents and visitors can round of ANZAC Day with a walk around Kawana Island with the next free 'Moonwalk' scheduled for Monday April 25 [Anzac Day] at 7.30pm.
Caloundra City Mayor, Don Aldous, said last month's moonwalk from Shelly Beach to Happy Valley attracted approximately 140 people, and the February moonwalk at Lake Kawana saw more than 80 people take in the sights of this new location.
"Thanks to a new calendar for 2005, participants can now moonwalk their way across Caloundra City with moonwalks planned at a variety of locations," Cr Aldous said.
"Some of the new locations include the new walkways at Lake Kawana, Kawana Island and Currimundi, as well as a hinterland walk in Landsborough.
"Walking is a great form of enjoyable physical exercise that is suitable for all ages, and a cost effective means of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
"So put your walking shoes on and head on down to Kawana Island. It's surprising how big a difference walking can make to your health."
Moonwalking is FREE and will start at 7.30pm at Kawana Island (subject to weather conditions). Meet at Double Bay Beach Park platform, Grand Parade, Kawana Island.
Interested walkers should arrive five minutes early to ensure the group can leave on time. Come equipped with a torch and water bottle, and be dressed comfortably.
Moonwalking is an extension of the City's highly successful 'Just Walk It' (JWI) program, which is sponsored and supported by both The Heart Foundation and Sport and Recreation Queensland.
