Join in the fun at Kings Beach when Quad Park Events present the Caloundra City Council Australia Day celebrations. Come and help celebrate what it means to be Australian with 13 hours of FREE Family fun and entertainment.
Enjoy three entertainment stages, fantastic music, food, art and craft stalls, and multi cultural village, Australia Day competitions, displays, workshops, dancing, Australia Day Awards, Citizenship Ceremony and much more.
The kids will have fun on the free giant slide and you can even become involved in a game of beach cricket and beach volleyball.
At 9.00am be sure to be in Kings Beach Park and look up in the sky, when the Sunshine Coast skydivers bring in the most magnificent Australian Flag.
The day's celebration will be wrapped up with sensational fireworks at 7.30pm followed by Movies under the stars on the big screen at 8.00pm. Be sure to bring your deck chairs and blankets.
Free shuttle bus's will leave Quad Park and the Caloundra Bus Interchange at 10.00am and continue through the day and into the evening.

There is a drop off zone for the elderly in the Burgess street car park, and plenty of car parking for disabled.

There will be plenty of reason to celebrate all that is Australian when Caloundra City Council hosts a jam packed 13 hour program of entertainment at Kings Beach Park and amphitheatre on Thursday 26 January.

Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the family event, which kicks off at 9am with a citizenship ceremony, will include live entertainment, art and crafts, a giant slide, beach activities, a multicultural village, Australia Day awards, a free movie under the stars and an impressive fireworks display.

Don't miss the grand entrance of the Australian Flag at 9am, which will fall from the sky courtesy of Suncoast Skydivers.

"Australia Day is a great way to celebrate being an Australian, with our annual celebration at Kings Beach offering something for everyone," Cr Aldous said.

"It's the perfect family affair, with plenty of traditional Aussie games and activities, along with a few non-traditional attractions that will be guaranteed to please.

To avoid the hassles of parking, free shuttle buses will run from the Caloundra Bus Interchange and Quad Park. 

Caloundra's unsung heroes will be recognised with the announcement of the Australia Day Awards from 5pm, and the sky will light up from 7.30pm with a fireworks display over Kings Beach.

A free screening of The Croc Hunter's Collision Course will run from 8pm.

"Bring along a blanket and sit back for a great evening of entertainment to cap off a great day of family fun."

Wednesday 25 January 2006  Kings Beach precinct gears up for mammoth day of celebrations

A 306 square metre Australian flag will arrive from the heavens at 9am sharp at Kings Beach Amphitheatre tomorrow as part of  Australia Day celebrations. Don't miss its arrival, complete with flares, courtesy of Sunshine Coast Skydivers.

The final touches will be added to the Kings Beach precinct today, including the park, amphitheatre and beach in preparation for the mammoth 13 hour day of celebrations planned to mark Australia Day tomorrow.

Caloundra City Mayor Don Aldous said the day will be a truly family affair, with a myriad of activities and entertainment on offer from 9am.

"Highlights of the day will include the spectacular arrival of the Australian flag followed by the citizenship ceremony, as well as the announcement of the 2006 Australia Day Awards at 5pm," Cr Aldous said.

There will also be plenty of activities, food and entertainment, a free giant slide for the children, multicultural village, beach activities and an impressive fireworks display from 7.30pm.

"A special screening of the Croc Hunter's Collision Course under the stars will provide the perfect ending to a great family day out."

Free shuttle buses will operate between the Caloundra Bus Interchange and Quad Park - for details, check out Council's website at www.caloundra.qld.gov.au.

Shuttle Bus Information
