Celebrations on the square - Peregian Village opens for business
The long anticipated works at Peregian Beach Village will be opened by Mayor Bob Abbot on 4 December, representing the greatest transformation that's ever taken place at Peregian Beach. The celebrations are on to mark the completion of works, and to welcome the community back to the site.
Staged and roving acts will abound with local schools, musicians and performers. Take advantage of on-stage demonstrations and in-store promotions by local traders, offering treats and entertainment such as free massages, makeovers and fashion parades.
Date: Tuesday 4 December 2007
Time: 10am - 3.00pm, with the cutting of the cake at 10:35am
Location: Peregian Beach Village
The recent works represent stage two in the village transformation totalling $2.1M, including wider pathways, new drainage, grass and landscaping that enhance the green leafy feel of the village.
"The design has kept the green leafy feel of the village square but also includes an architect-designed activity platform and specially designed wooden and metal furniture that reflect the history and the story of Peregian Village. There's even a whale shaped table reminiscent of the huge effort by residents to save a humpback whale in the early 90's," said Noosa Shire Councillor Frank Wilkie.
"The work has opened up the streetscape to the beach, increased the area of parkland, increased the amount of landscaping down the spine of the village and given the area a much needed spruce-up," said Councillor Russell Green.
The beautiful, patrolled Peregian Beach is flanked by extensive parklands and protected ducks ponds, but it's the unique family village square that sets this beach chic destination a part on the Sunshine Coast.
The cosmopolitan mix of residents and retailers influence the gastronomy of this lifestyle destination, with access to the best regional produce through over 50 stores and markets. A surprising mix of unique local and international brands from holistic health and wellbeing services to nationally coveted retail boutiques complete the picture.
Peregian Beach Village is a wonderful place to live, a spectacular place to spend the day shopping and relaxing and the perfect family holiday destination.
Council encourage you to take part in the opening celebrations and to spend time at the site.
