Sweeten Mother's Day with a screening of 'Chocolat' at Flicks in the Sticks
Flicks in the Sticks will be celebrating Mother's Day with a screening of Chocolat on Sunday May 9.
Flicks Director Steve Beardsley thinks an outdoor screening of a romantic classic is the perfect way to treat your mother or partner.
"We encourage fellas to bring along your partners or mums," says Steve "And ladies, lean on your other half and kids to treat you to a well-earned night out."
"And what could be better for mum than seeing all that delicious chocolate, a fairytale-like French village and the ever-popular Johnny Depp on the big screen!"
The Eumundi Showgrounds gates will open to moviegoers from 5pm, with the screening starting around 6.15pmish. BYO rug, chair or blanket, with beanbags available for hire.
A full candy bar will be in operation with all the usual goodies, including gourmet hot dogs, curries, and Mediterranean mezze plates.
"The cost for the night is only $8 per person, and it's free for children under three years of age," says Steve. "The price also includes a glow light and a movie treat, and we think it just might be the best value night out on the Coast!"
Flicks in the Sticks is at the Eumundi Showgrounds, a secure family-friendly venue at the Cooroy end of Memorial Drive, Eumundi.

A bit about the movie...
Vianne Rocher, (Juliette Binoche) like her ancestors, drifts across France. In the winter of 1959, she travels to a tranquil French village, where she and her daughter Anouk open a small chocolaterie. The store imbues both wonder and angst within the classical villagers as it opens during the forty days of Lent. The town's small-minded mayor (Alfred Molina) can't accept this and does his best to shut her down, but her warm personality and incredible chocolates manage to win over many townsfolk
Soon, Vianne's allure and confections enliven a married couple's love life, encourage an elderly man's secret love, bring rapport with a willful diabetic, and comfort an awkward woman who longs to leave her drunk and abusive husband. Nonetheless, the devout village mayor sees Vianne as an immoral provocateur and quietly contests against her. The battle peaks when a band of river gypsies camp on the village outskirts and Vianne finds a mutual attraction with the Gypsy, Roux (Johnny Depp).

Eumundi's outdoor cinema, Flicks in the Sticks has recently announced its screening calendar for the months of March, April and May.
Flicks in the Sticks Director Trent Harvison says "We cannot thank the community of Eumundi and nearby areas for their fantastic support over the last three months. With each screening we're steadily increasing our numbers, and the feedback that we get from patrons has been fantastic. We're getting plenty of locals coming along, as well as from Buderim and Maroochydore and even overseas visitors -- the word has gotten out that there's a family-friendly, affordable night right on our doorstep. And with the balmy weather that we've been having, what better place to be than under the stars, watching movie stars on the screen"

Cost is $8 per person -- single screening (children under 3 free) and includes a free gift -- which at previous screenings has been handmade chocolates, drinks, popcorn, or glow sticks. There's also a selection of hot meals available, as well as cold drinks and a full candy bar selection.
"We've just announced our next run of movies, and we reckon that there will be something screening for everyone -- so if you've been thinking of coming before, now's your chance" Trent says.
