The Tewantin Neighbourhood Group of the Australian Sewing Guild - known as The Guilded *Lillies* Sewing Circle.   *(Ladies industriously learning interesting exciting sewing).

The Tewantin Neighbourhood meetings are held on the last Saturday of the month from 9.00 - 300 at the Masonic Lodge Hall, Moorindil Street, Tewantin Qld.

The Tewantin Neighbourhood Group has organised a workshop and industry day to be held on 27th September 2008. At this meeting a professional teacher will demonstrate overlocking basics including threading, setting tensions, and trouble shooting.   This is to ensure that everyone who wants to participate in an intensive workshop planned for next year can do so confidently.  The 2009 workshop will concentrate on a range of basic and decorative techniques which can be achieved on these wonderful, but sometimes extremely frustrating, machines. For this month's meeting please bring along your overlocker, threads and accessories and of course your lunch.

The Tewantin Group has a regular program with a different topic each month.  Those who wish to, do the project, those who don't, bring their machine and or sewing and do their own thing.  Sometimes they just go for the chat.  If you are interested in becoming a member please phone Barbara Hawker on  (07) 5474 2454

The Tewantin Program for the next three months is:

25th October - Christmas gifts and decorations

29th November, Christmas party. No machines necessary, one of the members will be showing how to make tassels and cords.

The climax for National Sewing Month is the Guild's Annual Convention at Ashgrove, Brisbane from 28th September to 4th October.  It provides a wonderful opportunity for members to meet fellow sewers from all over the country.  It is where you can "expand your creative horizon with overlocking, scrumbling, time saving sewing, quality finishing, fabulous fit, fabric manipulation, fussy cutting, drafting, funky felting, image and style, sewing, chatting, laughing and FUN!!!"
