Coastal Adventure Challenge is Queensland's newest adventure race. The format is an adventure duathlon. Easy for new racers. Adventurous enough for the more experienced.

Coastal Adventure Challenge is a three person team event consisting of Mountain Biking and running along the beach with a number of fun and interesting obstacles. Expect to get wet!!!

This is a great form of off season training for triathletes; superb for corporate team building, a new and exciting way to get involved in Adventure Sports for beginners; an exciting and fun way for Mt bikers and runners to train.

So Take the Challenge. Get a team together. Have a great time as you adventure through Caloundra on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

Staging area: Rydges Oasis Resort, Caloundra

Race outline: Start with a 10km bike ride the run/walk 5km (test your skill, teamwork, luck and knowledge on the way with brain twisting activities). Plus you'll have to get wet during the race, so some simple swimming will be involved.

The Coastal Adventure Challenge is a new race schedule which will get you started in to the Adventure Race scene.

Take The Challenge

Coastal Adventure Challenge is an adventure duathlon run in the beautiful coast size town of Caloundra. You will run or walk along the sea side boardwalk, swim in the beautiful ocean, ride along bike tracks through varied environments. There are a number of rules your team must adhere to and these are listed below. If you have never undertaken an adventure type race before, please ensure you read through all the information on this page to you have everything you need on the day. If you don't have some gear you may not be allowed to race.

Race Times:
Race registration is at 7am
Race brief is at 7.30am
Race start is at 7.45am
Most people will be finished by approximately 10.30 till 11.30am
Race cut off is 12.30pm

The race will be as follows:

10km ride, which is flat to moderate riding mainly along pathway with a little offroad adventuring (so you'll need a Mt Bike. If you don't have one go to Other info page to see our Mt Bike suppliers). Below is an outline of the course.

The run / walk is 5km along flat walking tracks and the beach.

Things to bring:

    * Closed in shoes: you must wear your shoes at all times during the race (so learn to swim in them)
    * Ample water (we suggest at least 3 litres, something like a backpack water bladder)
    * Mt Bike
    * Helmet (a properly fitted bike helmet only)
    * Snacks
    * A sense of humour and a packet of smiles

As typical of adventure racing you are racing as a team of three (3) at all times. There are rules which you need to adhere to; some for safety, some for race flow and some for the activities you will be doing.

    * All team members must stay together (no more then 100m apart) you will get one warning only!
    * Your team number must be worn at all times during the race.
    * When on the ride leg you must give way to pedestrains.
    * When riding on the road you must stay on the far left hand side of the road (inside of the marker cones).
    * When crossing the road please do so under the guidance of a Race Marshal.
    * You must adhere to all directions of the Race Marshals
    * During the run leg you are to run on the footpath or beach (unless otherwise signed or directed).
    * Directions provided by Qld Surf Life Saving is valuable and can save your life listen to them.
    * All control markers must be punched on your control card to ensure you do not recieve any time penalties.
