Community speakers at Library 14/11/2006
The Noosa Library's community speakers programme will conclude its 2006 presentations with two November events : Organ and Tissue Donation and issues faced by those with Epilepsy.
Under the umbrella of Queensland Health, Sue Prebie is Queensland Donate's Regional Donor Coordinator for the Sunshine Coast. On Thursday, November 23rd at 10.00 am she will discuss what is involved in donating organs and tissue and how to register consent or objection on the Australia Organ Donor Register.
Donations can involve :
• Organs - which include kidneys, heart, lungs, liver and pancreas
• Tissues - which include heart valves, bone tissue, skin tissue and eye tissue.
Sue Prebie will explain why it is important to discuss such a decision with family, partners or close friends. They will be an important part of the donation process and therefore should be made aware of such a consent.
Epilepsy Action educator Claire Lisle will provide insight into how epilepsy impinges on the quality of life of both the sufferer and carers on Monday, November 27th at 1.00p.m.
Both presentations are free and light refreshments will be provided.
