Investing in our youth and future is the inspiration for this fun filled and absolutely free musical odyssey being held at The Pavillion at the Gympie Showgrounds on the 26th of January 2008.
Featuring 8 acts ranging from the power punk sounds of the all chick Adelaide based band Blow up Betty here on a national tour, the old school new twist sunny coast rock act Showpony and the punk rock mania of Drawcard. The musical journey is complimented by the great chill out coastal folk music of Autumn Sun and some fantastic up and coming youth acts like Zain Boag, The One Two, Shorter than Ant and Spec2C.
This 'drug and alcohol free' concert has found great support in the community since the idea was conceived by local Business owner and dedicated father Gary Pitt of Amamoor. "I am touched and inspired by the support that my idea has been given. I knew I wanted to do something for kids and with kids from this area and this concert is an awesome opportunity to begin doing that - eventually I would like to see more events for youth where they can even become involved in the organisation process - being involved will keep them out of mischief and give them a sense of belonging". Cooloola Mayor Mick Vernados has been key player in pulling everything together to get the event off the ground. "When Gary approached me with his idea I was excited to see that someone in the area was prepared to go out on a limb and organise something great for the local youth and their families, I was on board straight away". And with help from major sponsors Nestle and Hungry Jacks, support from a number of local businesses and dedicated volunteers, as well as the generous free performances from all of the artists, the event is shaping up to be a ripper family day out!
