Residents are invited to help the Coolum Library celebrate a creative community contribution with the unveiling of a new 'Coolscapes' mural this Thursday, 5 February at 10am.
A work for the dole project, the 'Coolscapes' mural is the creation of the "Coolumural Team": Tim Buitenhuis, Alex Mclachlan and Oshi Simpson who are all based at the Coolum Youth and Community Centre.
Maroochy Mayor, Alison Grosse, said the mural is a valuable artistic addition to the library and reinforced its role as a hub for community cultural activities.
"The four beautifully created artworks that make up the mural are not only a valuable contribution to the library, but also represent the success of work for the dole projects and the Coolum Library's role as a cultural and learning centre," Cr Grosse said.
"Incorporating images of local Coolum icons such as the boardwalk and the beach, the artists have also included pebbles, sand and sea shells sourced locally to create an authentic 3D image that connects with the very heart of Coolum."
Members of the community are encouraged to attend the unveiling of the mural at on Thursday, 5 February, where a special guest storyteller will entertain both young and old. Refreshments will also be served. The Coolum Library is located on
