Flying Sound Garden

Artists have been working together to create the first ever Flying Sound Garden, a concept initiated by Rebecca Harbison. The Flying Sound Garden is an exploration of sounds and movement produced by wind. It is in it's first year this year and it invites anyone to contribute to the garden at next year's festival. Check it out you won't have seen one before - there isn't another one!

You'll find DJ Kite String Mixing in the Garden with Linsey Pollack. Linsey, musician and instrument maker extraordinaire will be amplifying kite strings and wind bows, for you to hear and play with the amazing sounds produced by wind and a string.

A giant, 18metre Serpent Kite made by Tony Rice will be painted by spectators and flown at the end of the day to launch peoples hopes and dreams into the sky.

The Artists are:
Linsey Pollack - Instrument Maker and Musician,
Tony Rice - Kite Artist and Flyer,
Sally Hart - Artist and Sculpteur,
Atto Zarzura - Sculpteur and
Rebecca Harbison - Artist and learner kiteflyer.

This year will be a taste of the possibilities of this unique concept, which we hope to develop with increased involvement from the local community.

Kite Making Workshops attract over 550 students
Over 550 students from 8 schools on the Sunshine Coast will make a kite in the lead up to the festival. These will be strung together and flown on the day as a kite arch of up to 50 kites.
