Dads are the ultimate role models.
Dads Read aims to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of fathers and families reading with their children, particularly in their early developmental years.
Reading with young children not only helps them to develop a love of reading, but also strengthens their literacy skills, models positive reading behaviour and builds children’s self-esteem around reading which is a fundamental life skill.
The evidence shows that reading to children from as little as ten minutes a day improves their literacy levels.
Dads Read is a State wide program being promoted through libraries across Queensland.
Sunshine Coast Libraries will be promoting Dads Read and providing opportunities for Dads to read with their kids over September.
Block Parties - Lego at the Library
Celebrate Dads Read in September by visiting your local library with your Dad and constructing planes, trains or automobiles. Build what you like and inspire others. We will photograph your creation and celebrate your building techniques by placing it on Sunshine Coast Library’s Facebook.
Dads are welcome to storytelling. Come along to one of the many free storytelling sessions at Sunshine Coast Libraries.
