Nambour girl is coming back to Nambour. Rainee Skinner went to school at Nambour High with Wayne Swan and Kevin Rudd, and went on to become a professional actress in Sydney. She returned to the Sunshine Coast to raise the family and finds herself writing cabarets. After a performance of the Vagina Monologues in Sydney sharing the stage with Jackie Weaver and Genevieve Lemon this weekend, Rainee joins locals Glenda O'Sullivan and Marita Schlink in a Back to Nambour Festival production of Dangerous Curves a cabaret with a difference.

Dangerous Curves is not your ordinary, run-of-the-mill cabaret. Normally a Rainee and Glenda cabaret has the girls playing several characters each and the story is broken up into scenes or skits, but not this time. It is more like a play with music, but it's not quite a musical, and it's done with all the flamboyance and entertainment of cabaret. There are realistic characters that develop and grow during the show. There is a plot. There is singing (accompanied by musicians and collaborator Sam Saunders and Roger Peters). There is dancing (courtesy of the SCADA dancers). Plus there is Marita!

No matter where you come from there is a little bit of Nambour in all of us!

"Never pass up the opportunity for a joy ride!"

It's about three 45+ women who went to university together and decide to get out of Brisbane and drive north for some respite from their busy lives.

Their weekend takes them on a wild ride which ends up in Nambour. The home town of one of the women and of course it's also the home town of Kevin 07 and Wayne who she went to school with.

The women's crazy journey takes them to places which give them a new way of viewing themselves, each other and their worlds. This funny and moving musical extravaganza has been described as a cross between "Thelma and Louise" and "Strictly Ballroom". It is a life affirming piece which is gutsy, poignant and real.

Join Rainee Skinner, Glenda O'Sullivan, Sam Saunders and their fabulous friends on a hilarious musical road trip to Kevin and Wayne's heartland.

Celebrate your inner Nambour in style at the Nambour Civic Centre
