Want to nail the tender process for that major project? Good business management systems are a must for supply chain businesses to win work in major projects, including government and private tenders.

Economic Development Portfolio Councillor Stephen Robinson said council's upcoming Demystifying Business Management Workshops would help local businesses better understand the procurement and management system requirements to be considered a winning opportunity.

"As a business it's all about showing your competency in managing your part of the supply chain in an increased risk profile of the larger buyer and this workshop has been developed to deliver the information businesses need to succeed," he said.

Core Consultants Director, Dave Mason said the Maroochydore-based geotechnical, environmental and project delivery company had benefited greatly from attending the workshop earlier this year.

"We were just starting up our new company and while we were aware of what we needed to do to achieve ISO Certification we really didn't know exactly how to get there," he said.

"The workshop provided fantastic information that put us on the right track to getting all the systems and procedures in place that we needed to get certification for quality management, environmental management and health and safety management – all of which were essential to enable us to secure contracts for local councils and government projects."

The council-sponsored workshops will be held at the Lake Kawana Community Centre on Tuesday October 20 and Wednesday November 11 - both from 9am-11am. The workshops will help businesses better understand what key management systems are and why major buyers require businesses to have them.
