SWOON AT SWAYZE THIS VALENTINE'S DAY AT EUMUNDI'S OUTDOOR CINEMA -- FLICKS IN THE STICKS
Twenty years after teenage girls swooned to the Swayze hips, Dirty Dancing's back in Eumundi at Flick in the Sticks for Valentines' Day on Sunday 14 February.
Flicks in the Sticks Director Trent Harvison notes it's a fitting tribute to Patrick Swayze -- one of Hollywood's hunkiest dancing heartthrobs.
"As the summer camp dance instructor, Patrick Swayze as 'Johnny' introduces Jennifer Grey's posh girl 'Baby' to more than just a few moves on the dancefloor," says Trent.
"It's a brilliantly nostalgic film with a great 60's set, a soundtrack that will have you singing along, and a storyline that oozes romance -- as it should for Valentine's Day", he says.
"And we'll all be waiting for that line of lines, "Nobody puts Baby in the corner".
Gates open at 6pm, with the screening starting around 7.15pm. Moviegoers are reminded to bring something to sit on -- a picnic rug, chair, beanbag, or even a couch!
The candy bar opens from 6pm -- with choc top ice-creams, popcorn and all the necessary movie munchies, as well as a host of hot meals.
"The cost is only $8 per person, and free for children under three years of age," says Trent. "The price also includes a glowlight and a handmade chocolate heart - especially for Valentine's Day. So, just like the movie - come along and have the time of your life!"
A bit about the movie...
It is the summer of 1963 and Frances "Baby" Houseman (Jennifer Grey) and her family visit a holiday resort in America's beautiful Catskill Mountains. Baby is almost immediately swept off her feet by the sexy and talented Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), a man whose background is vastly different from her own.
When her father forbids her to have anything to do with the hunky resort dance instructor and his pals, she finds herself falling madly in love with him and learning how to dance the passionate latin dances that Johnny loves.
You'll love the seriously great dancing, and the heroine Baby who must learn her lifts, lose her 'spaghetti arms' and masquerade as a pro in only a few weeks!
Like the beginning of the 60's signalled the ending of an era of innocence for USA, it also signals the ending of Baby's innocence and the awakening of her feelings as a young woman.
