Pet microchipping at a park near you
Get your dog or cat microchipped for just $25 per pet at one of council's microchipping days in four parks across the Sunshine Coast this month.
Microchipping is the safest and most secure way to have pets easily identified and reunited with their owner quickly.
Council's Community Policy and Programs Portfolio holder Cr Jenny McKay urged residents to take this opportunity to microchip their pets for a reasonable cost.
"Identifying your pet it so important to their safety and owner's piece of mind," she said.
"No matter where your pet is found, a microchip scan will show your contact details instantly.
"Addresses and phone numbers can easily be changed should you move, without having to insert a new chip."
Microchipping days, from 10am to 2pm, are:
* Thursday 22 October at Mill Park on Simpson Street, Beerwah
* Friday 23 October at Lions Park on Gympie Terrace, Noosaville
* Saturday 24 October at Elizabeth Daniels Pet Park on Syd Lingard Drive, Buderim
* Sunday 25 October at Keith Royal Park on Keith Royal Drive, Mudjimba
Chip insertion is carried out by a certified vet and for much less than typical microchipping.
Council reminds owners that all pets should be registered in the council database. Residents with unregistered pets should contact council customer service on 5475 7272.
