Doc Span & Ross Williams Together Again Live!!!! Noosa Blue Resort November 7 from 7 – 10pm Here's some links to Doc & Ross: http://youtu.be/9v0aHUKIlF8 http://youtu.be/ZzZKIWEcO2A Entertainers of the Year 2000 - Doc Span and Ross Williams - are back to perform on the Sunshine Coast with their special blend of authentic acoustic Blues at Noosa Blue Resort's new live music venue.
Doc Span and Ross Williams play powerful down home blues deeply rooted in the Chicago and Mississippi styles that represent Span and Williams' respective upbringings and influences. Their instinctive blues chemistry and enduring friendship prompts wild, fun and enthusiastic performances. Their Rare Recordings album is a natural progression from the duo's 20-year musical and personal relationship that developed in Queensland, out of a love for Blues. Ross Williams, the unassuming guru of guitar, celebrates 40 years in the Australian music industry this year. He began playing professionally at 17 and toured with some of Australia's legendary artists throughout the 70s and early 80s.
He repeatedly toured the world representing some of Australia's finest recording acts. Doc Span is renowned for his unique warm grainy voice, expressive harmonica tone, inspiring dynamics and exciting stage presence. His blues style is drawn from a personal pilgrimage through the blues with years of jamming with many of Chicago's Blues greats while a paramedic at the notorious Cook County Jail – hence the "Doc". "Every so often arrives the pairing of musicians incorporating an indiscernible ingredient or quality that virtually guarantees longevity. And so it's been with Doc Span & Ross Williams, much to the delight of the audiences they've been entertaining for years. The Queensland Recording Association have recognised the talent of this duo and have seen fit to present them with an award for the best Blues / R'n'B album at the annual "Sunnie Awards" which are to honour excellence in Queensland based recording projects.
"The Last Train" represents 13 tracks of acoustically presented near original, with only two tracks not solely written by Span & Williams, tunes encompassing passion, wit, sadness and joy. What a great duo, Doc blowing some great harp with Ross tastefully playing guitar whilst tappin' away on the stomp box and foot snare. "They're playing the blues like it was all those years ago, with a lot of feel, you can never get sick of this type of playing."
