Access Gallery November 18 to December 11, 2004

The theme for Mental Health Week 2004 was "Finding the Wisdom Within"

"Dream" is the culmination of one year of personal exploration of inner wisdom and outer expressions of this, for 7 Sunshine Coast artists who live with mental illness.

The year long professional development project - of monthly sessions at the gallery with Maryke Stagg, follows the successful "Dream" exhibition 2003, (which was inspired by discussions following Mental Health Week 2002.)

There are many skilled and developing artists on the coast who continue artistic pursuits during or around their experience of living with a mental illness. Some of them are an inspiration to others for 'finding the wisdom within'. Drawing on our strengths in creative and artistic endeavours,…whether or not our lives are currently touched by mental illness, can enhance our mental health and resilience, as individuals and as a community.

Dream is the theme chosen by this group of artists for their exhibition of works to be launched on: Thursday November 18th at 2pm at Noosa Regional Gallery.

Project funded by Noosa Regional Council Regional Arts Development Fund, Noosa Regional Gallery and Queensland Health. Mentors to this group of artists are well known artists Lisa Adams and Kim Guthrie.
