SCRUFFFY presents: Twilight Film Club
If June seems too far away and you are looking for some SCRUFFFY action now, then don't miss the next screening of a new free twilight film club.
The Twilight Film Club, an initiative of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council's Youthlinx program, will host a further five free outdoor family movie screenings in the lead up to SCRUFFFY, the Coast's annual youth film festival, which kicks off in June.
Sunshine Coast Regional Council Community Services Regional Director Lisbet Dean said the Twilight Film Club is an opportunity to create awareness of the youth film festival, which is now in its third year.
"SCRUFFFY is an exciting opportunity for young people to explore their creativity and showcase their skills, as well as expose them to a variety of other creative and cultural experiences," Ms Dean said.
Ms Dean said the other main aim of the screenings is to provide an affordable, quality entertainment and cultural experience not only for young people, but the wider community.
"While the film festival is all about engaging young people and harnessing their creative energy, it also offers something for the wider community, and the Twilight Film Club is a perfect way to encourage local residents to get involved. "
The Twilight Film Club was launched on Friday night with the award winning film Breaking Away (PG). Future screenings include popular family film Surf's Up, on Saturday 26 April at the Kawana Surf Club park, Edward Scissorhands on Friday 9 May at Felicity Park, Goonies on Friday 23 May at Felicity Park, Labyrinth on Friday 6 June at Felicity Park and Gremlins on Friday 20 June at Felicity Park.
