Jane Fonda is the hippy grandmother, still stuck in the 1960s,Catherine Keener her uptight lawyer daughter and Elizabeth Olson the outspoken granddaughter. The film also features Geoffrey Dean Morgan.
Australian film director, Bruce Beresford has made more than 30 feature films over a 40-year career, including The Adventures of Barry McKenzie, Don’s Party, The Getting of Wisdom and Breaker Morant.
His first film made in the US, 'Tender Mercies' earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director in 1982. He also directed 'Driving Miss Daisy' which won the Academy Award for Best Film in 1990, and 'Black Rope', considered one of the best of his later films. In 1995, his film 'Silent Fall' was nominated for the Golden Bear at the 45th Berlin International Film Festival.
The 2009 film, Mao’s Last Dancer, directed by Beresford, broke records at the Australian box office and won the audience Award at 11 film festivals.
In addition to films, Bruce Beresford has also directed numerous operas and theatre productions.
