Eye of the camel
The evening features author Libby Urban.
Eye of the camel is the story of a Palestine Policeman caught up in the strife of international politics during the years immediately preceeding the State of Israel.  In meeting this challenge Ted Newman faced brutality and gut wrenching horror, met hatred and hospitality and patrolled on a camel through the awesome beauty and harshness of the Negev and Sinai deserts.  'Eye of the camel' is in memory of a Palestine Policeman, the father of the author.  Libby has used diaries, letter, photographs, conversations and maps to recount his time in this troubled land.
